Incumbent Workforce Development Program Starts on September 1 The North Carolina Commission on Workforce Development recently announced that the Incumbent Workforce Development Program will begin again on September 1, 2004. The program provides North Carolina employers the opportunity to apply for grants to provide employee training programs. The program is designed to upgrade employees' skills and increase companies' competitiveness in the global marketplace. A revised application process is currently being developed. The Centralina Workforce Development Board was a state leader last year with 11 approved applications for companies who chose to participate in the Incumbent Workforce Development Program. We appreciate the efforts made by the local employers, community college new and expanding industries staff members, and NC State Industrial Extension Service staff to make the program so successful in the Centralina region last year. We look forward to another terrific year! Please visit the Centralina Workforce Development Board website www.centralinaworks.com/whatshot.cfm for updates or contact David Hollars at 704.348.2717.
